Sep 19, 2005 8:53AM PDT

I am using a fuji s7000 and plan to upgrade the camera.I find fuji good but when i try to take moving objects the camera does not give me great results and while creating close up it captures all the light in hte world.I have taken about a 1000 photos already and think its time to upgrade. Pelase adive. How about a D70s of Canon 350

Upgrading from Fujifilm S7000

The S7000 has manual controls so the next upgrade will naturally lead you to a DSLR camera.

The DSLR will provide you with even more manual controls.

The Nikon D70 or the Canon 350D would be a good choice.

Now, don't start a fight by asking "which is better".

Nikon and Canon SLR owners have been arguing for years. And they never come to an agreement.

Bottom line -- you will be pleased with either one.
Read the reviews and see which one fits your requirements.

Upgrading from Fujifilm S7000

To understand this better, how will ISO and Shutter Speed make a difference, i usually wait for a couple of seconds to take the second picture and I have felt that if i increase iso from Auto to 800 i am able to click a little faster. Will a Nikon or a Canon make so much of a diff. As Shutter speed of Canon is 1/4000 vs 1/8000 for nikon and both have iso 1600. These both talk of (+-)EV Range. Where can i read more to understand these tech specs better. Please advise as i think i will have to pay more eye for details when i use these

Specifications

The DSLR ISO settings is one of the things that sets the DSLR apart from non DSLR cameras.

The DSLR sensor produces very little noise and therefore an ISO setting of 1600 has less noise than an ISO setting of 100 on a non-DSLR camera.\

This lets the DSLR produce cleaner (noise free) photos in low light situations. And you can take photos in low light situations where it is too dark to even use a non DSLR.

Shutter speeds of 1/4000 or 1/8000 are seldom needed or used. They would come in handy if you wanted to photograph a bullet in flight.

To understand most of the specifications here is a hint:

Go to this link and look at the specs for the D70:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/specs/Nikon/nikon_d70s.asp

Notice that right next to most of the specs, there is a tiny yellow question-mark?
Click that yellow question-mark and you will get an brief explaination of the specification.
