It is an interesting concept and apparently a very new site.
A Google search turns up mostly press release information written by ipswap.
Until I see feedback from real people, I would only look and listen.
In the case of writing new software for a digital camera. If you are talking about altering the firmware in the camera, you will run into copyright problems immediately.
I only know of one case where this has occured. That was on the Canon 300D Rebel. Someone in Russia came out with a bootleg firmware. He did not try to sell it, but had it available as a free download.
If you try that in the USA you will likely get to meet some of Canon's lawyers.

hey I was wondering if anyone has heard of IPswap? It is a marketplace where users and software developers meet to create custom software for consumer electronics. anyway... i have an idea for making some new software for my digital camera... I want it to have some additional functions it never came with.
Has anyone used the site and have any feedback for me to know what to expect?
Thanks,
