Digital Camera Software question

Mar 5, 2006 3:07AM PST

I already own the Canon PowerShot A75 and recently purchased the Digital Rebel XT. The software that came with the Powershot is already on my computer and some of it is similar to the software that came with the Rebel...except maybe newer version & a few new things of course. My question is do I have to uninstall the older versions already on there and then install the new versions or will they just be replaced when I install the new cd?

Thanks!!!

My thoughts. . .

If it ain't broke. . . Unless the newer version has something you can't live without, I'd leave it alone.

Not sure what "software" is needed. Is there a USB or Firewire connector? Are you running XP? If so, it should recognize the camera up front. What does the software do? My Sony Mavica was recognized when I plugged it into my XP machine, showed as a "camera" and that was it.

Let us know more information.

Thanks for your response - to be more specific ZoomBrowser is one of the programs I am referring to. PowerShot came with 4.6 and Rebel has 5.5; PowerShot came with PhotoRecord 2.0 and Rebel has 2.2; Rebel also has a different software editing program.

Can I install new versions over older ones or should I uninstall first?

Let me know if you need more information. Thanks!

Since I have Windows XP I decided to chance it - as in passed tries it has installed over them, replacing them...it worked, it recognized & updated the versions automatically.

Thanks for your help.
