The main difference is that the F30 has some manual controls (aperture priority and shutter priority) that are missing from the F20.
People who are into photography prefer the manual controls.
Both cameras have "modes" which lets the user get better results under difficult situations, without resorting to manual controls.
Here is a look at the press release of the F20:
The F20 can be found for under $200 and would make an excellent camera for your mom. There is little point in looking further if the price is right for you.
As a forewarning...I'm extremely digital camera dumb
My sister, brother and I would like to get my mom a new digital camera for Christmas. The one she has now is VERY old (at least 5 years) and needs to be retired.
Her needs are very simple...she basically takes "simple" pictures (christmas, holidays, family parties, vacations, etc.). She is no professional photographer by any means!
I think I've narrowed it down to the Fujifilm Finepix F30 or F20.
Couple of questions...
1) What is the difference between the 2 cameras? Is it just that one is a newer model than the other? Like I said above...I've very digital camera dumb
2) Would either of these be the "best fit" for someone looking for a good but basic camera?
Any other cameras you would suggest me looking into?
Thanks so much for all your help!!!
