Digital camera headache

Feb 28, 2005 3:09AM PST

We have just bought a new HP printer/copier but just before that, we got a Unicron 6 in 1 digital camera. We have tried to load it prior to getting new printer/copier without success so when my husband got home with the new "printer/copier", I was stunned as I know that HP usually make their products so that you can only use same make for to use with them (if you understand what I am getting at). This has further exasperated me as now, not only can I not load our new camera it is going to be totally useless because of our new HP printer/copier (psc 1317) Our computer is an ASUS and also new, we have XP home. We also have a high memory and broadband. Can we get any help as to what to do, is there a way to be able to get our camera loaded and use our printer/copier. Camera is a 6.6 mega pixel enhanced mpeg4 movie recording and mp3. "HEEEELP?"

Just asking.

How has been Unicron's support for this camera? I couldn't find such a camera with Google so you'll have to help me find their web support site.

As it stands, you may have been ripped off by some E-bay sale on a no-name camera that isn't really 6.6 megapixels and with no visible means of support. Don't feel bad, you won't be the last to be fleeced.

As to the HP, you should install its drivers and should be able to print from your applications. Later when you sort out the camera, you can print photos.

Can I also ask why you think HP should support your no-name camera?

unicorn electronics

There is a site called unicorn electronics, maybe that company? www.unicornelex.com

I have had an Olympus digital and an HP all in one for three years now and I have no trouble with the two on my computer and print out great photos.

I am so sorry but I was looking at the guide book again I received with my camera and it is a "Lumicron" 6.6 mega pixel enhanced/mpeg4 movie recording and not "umicron" or "unicorn" It was how it was writen on the cover of the book but there is no website given for help on booklet?

Much like the SVP cameras. They lie...
Mar 15, 2005 11:38AM PST

"True 3.2 mega pixel sensor resolution
1.5? TFT Color LCD display
8X Digital Zoom
Long Working Hours up to 3 hours with LCD on
Internal 16 MB memory and SD/MMC card slot support
Interface USB 2.0

Specification
Image Sensor

OmniVision 3610 1/2" 2048 x 1536 CMOS"

This is one of those to steer clear of since they lie on the specs. The sensor is one I know about and will not (and never) perform in low light.

I found one with the Lumicron label

It is indeed the same as the SVP camera.

This is another of those Taiwan cameras that is sold on auctions sites.

If you buy them in quantity they will put your name on them.

I could not find any source for support on the Lumicron brand.

..................

The only hint I can provide:

When you have the drivers installed, and the camera connected to the computer, make sure that the camera is turned on and is in playback mode (the same mode you use when viewing the pictures on the camera LCD.

If the camera is in recording mode, you can not get to the photos.

Good Luck

I am unable to find any information about a Unicron digital camera.

Perhaps you can provide more information. Such as complete name and model number and where you purchased the camera.

I assume you are trying to connect the camera directly to the printer through the PictBridge port on the printer.

PictBridge is an industry standard and to connect to any printer with PictBridge, the camera also has to be PictBridge compatible.

It is highly unlikely that any 6 in 1 camera is PictBridge compatible.

You can still connect the printer to your computer with a USB cable. The installation sheet that came with the printer will have all the details.
