digital camcorder with excellent sound & lowlight capability

by concertfilmer / June 13, 2004 11:06 PM PDT

I am looking to upgrade my video recording from tape to dvd. I am leaning towards Sony or Canon miniDV but have not settled on a model or brand yet. Price is not relevant as I am looking for the best quality and ease of operating.

What I need:

- Good quality low light capability
- Excellent audio (or as best as you can get) for recording loud music (young rock band @ local concerts for demos/family)
- User friendly for editing either on the camera itself or via the computer

Any suggestions you can provide or links to unsolicited reviews would be very helpful. There are too many choices out there with solicited reviews and they tend to contain only positives about the product.

Thanks in advance for any help!

While sound is very good on the camcorders that I've seen (outside of lowest price consumer models), the low light issue will dog you regardless of model.

Maybe you need film?

All of the research I have done so far (camcorderinfo.com has been excellent)has now pushed me towards a Panasonic or Hitachi because of the better low light quality. But I am concerned about the audio quality. I am both the photographer and filmer during concerts, so I am looking for somethihng light weight with a long record time so that it is one less thing to worry about while I am taking pics and video. Unfortunately, they have not made a camcorder yet that fills all my wishes! Wish me luck, I am going out to test drive a bunch of models today!

Then add a mic.

Simple. Add an external mic and get the foam cover and maybe even the "shaggy dog" cover if wind is an issue.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
