Digital Camcorder Combo

Hello Tech world I have a Digital Camcorder Combo FC F3356771 The Sharper Image.It is a 11 fuction Camara, Camcorder,Radio, P.C. Cam, MP-3, MP-4 player and so on. Problem I am having is when I run the install disk { MDV-241 Digital Camcorder Software VideoManager } everything will install But when it gets to the PC Cam part of the install in the VideoManager I get a pop up saying that the .net frame work is not campatable with the .net frame work on my laptop. Granted now I keep everything up to date on my laptop. I tryed serching for a driver for this thing { MDV-241 Digital Camcorder Software Video Manager } but no hopes in finding it yet. Everything works on the unit But I just can't get the install for the Camara to work as a PC Cam. My PC is windows XP Can anyone help with this .

Sharper Image does not show such a device on their website.
A search for MDV-241 does not turn-up any video or camera device.
I can't help.

The Sharper Image All-in-one camcorder sounds like the one Avon is selling in its current catalogue, which is actually manufactured and marketed by Avon undr license and doesn't appear to be sold by Sharper Image.

I also have PC with windows XP and may be destined to have the same problems.

I'm interested in purchasing this item and would be very interested in its pros and cons and how it equates with other cameras with similar features on the market.

Their description is vague.
"Mfg by Avon under license"

Under license by whom.

Who supports that product?
Who handles the warranty if you need repairs a few months from now or want to talk to someone about a problem?

Most of these "no name" cameras come from China.
The Chinese factories do not provide customer support for their products.

The Digital Camcorder Combo F3356771 ( The Sharper Image )

Pros: The Camcorder Combo is light weight /credit card size.Most of the features work very well like the Radio, Loading music from off your computer onto the music file to play back on the unit it great, the audio sounds wonderful. In camcorder mode the Video is very nice and clean. Mostly everything works well on the unit.

Cons:Using it in Camera mode you really need to be very still when taking a picture, plus you want to judge your distance of what you are taking a picture of the auto focus is not all that, at greater distances for picture taking [ but it's not to bad ] use your judgement when taking a photo. Make sure your computer has the update version of Microsoft . Net Framework 3.5 SP1 only to load the MDV-241 Camcorder software. When using the camera as a PS cam the camera HAS to be in PS Cam mode before pluging in the USB cable into your USB port. Using the cam as a PC cam the unit has no type of clip or anything that will attach the cam to your laptop screen when in use. As one person has said to me that they just lay thier down on a table to use it that way ? Not sure how that looks to the person that is viewing them on their cam.

The easiest way is to use the usb cable and connect to your pc. It should automatically turn on. You should be able to see another drive just as you would with a flash drive. Then go to the directory for the type file you wish to delete. There are 4 : Audio, Image, Video, and Ebook. Now go to the "record" folder. You should now see the files you want to delete. Delete the files and you normally would on any flash drive. You can do this from the Cam itself, but it's more cumbersome. On the main menu, go to FILES. Click OK. Click on the drive of the flash drive and OK. Click on either audio, image, video, or ebook. Click on record and OK. Click to the image you want to delete. NOW click the volume button on the bottom of the camera. You have a chose of delete, delete all , copy, cut, file info. Choose delete . and OK. Now it will pop up with a hint dialog box that says " Would you delete the file?" This is confusing (made in China ) because if you want to delete the file you should choose NO. Choosing yes keeps the file . Hope this helps.

find the pic u want to delete in pics file in your menu it will have a letter and a number assigned to it. When you are in the screen with that combo (number and letter) push the button on the bottom of camera scroll down to delete press ok and follow directions

Radio

Musicianjr ...Do you know how to get the radio to move to stations with "odd" numbers ..like 92.1, 94.7 ? Mine will only go in increments of 2. Is this just the way it's made or am I missing something on this? Most of the stations in my area are like this and I cannot pick them up.

Messed up camera and video function after using as PC Cam...

After using my Sharper Image F3356771 mini camcorder as a PC Cam on Skype, when I turn it on to use as a regular video camera or digital camera, I get a rainbow of horizontal lines and snow that won't go away. I've tried letting battery run out and recharging. "Safely Removing" hardware on my USB port, and Ending video on Skype followed by "safely removal". And praying.
Sometimes when turning on in camera/video mode I get a clear picture for about one minute, but then lime green lines from the left take over. Have I ruined my unit for everything except Skype? Is there a reset button? I can purchase a new one on Amazon since I really liked this camcorder for it's small size. That would probably be cheaper than repair. I used a driver repair program that said my video driver was out of date. Is this the real problem? My computer also doesn't recognize it as a PC Cam sometimes. I redownloaded the installation disk twice and it looked like I had 2 devices for awhile. Please, somebody smarter than me enlighten me. Thank you...

I received the same NetFrame error and also had no luck locating it. But XP has a nasty habit of storing a prior NetFrame files from original instalation of system files and not removing these files when the new 3.0 NetFrame update is applied. Try removing the older version. Then remove any and all software for the Cam and restart the computer. Then plug the camcorder in WITHOUT the disk in your cd drive (remember to remove the disk prior to reboot or it will auto run after boot) See if your comp recognizes the cam all by itself. If not, then put the setup disk in and run as normally would. When you experience the error mssg again go to Administrative tools,Computer Management, Device Manager, locate the camcorder on the list and right click and uninstall. You will see the list disappear then reappear usually with a beep indication of removal of device. Then right click on the first Icon with the computer next to it (it should be indicated by the name of your computer) and choose scan for hardware changes. I had to do this numerous times before the cam would show up in MY COMPUTER as PC Cam. Hope this helps.

I got the same error message "version of .Net not compatible" but I found the camera did appear under Scanners and Cameras in My Computer. I use Windows XP. When I clicked on it, I found the image. Although nothing appears on the device display, the PC Cam is active. Since I knew it was now working, I logged into Yahoo Messenger to try it. I got an error message that my "Web Cam was not Connected." There was a link immediately there that took me to a YM troubleshooting website. Because I use Firefox, I had to download a wrapper from Internet Explorer. Once I did that, I was able to get the image to display in YM.

Moral of the story, there is no reason for the original error message "version not compatible" when you first download the software. It must be a default bug. It does work! This little camera is pretty cool for all it can do. I use it for music in the gym and am glad my Avon lady gave it to me for Christmas.

We need to know the camera make and model number.

Format is usually found in the SetUp Menu on most (but not all) cameras.

If you have an old camera that uses SD memory cards, it may not work with a 4gb memory card.
A 4gb memory card is called SDHC (SD high capacity).
Older cameras are not compatible with SDHC cards.

my combo F3356771 won't load

I have the same camera you listed above, the Sharper Image credit card size camera F3356771, but it won't load. I've only used it a few times and my grandson tried to
load it, and did not turn it on, to load. I retried to load it with it turned on and now it keeps saying "loading".
What can I do? I'd appreciate any help!
