Digital Audio through TV through HDMI?

I'm in the process of buying a new TV for a smaller room of my house. I currently only use the TV for my Xbox 360 and it looks great on my current TV and sounds great because of the optical audio input on the sound system I have. The new TV would only be used for my 360 and a possible Blu-ray player if I decide to purchase one. Because my sound system only has one optical audio input, I'm trying to figure out how I would be able to run digital audio from both my 360 and a Blu-ray player? The TV I'm looking to purchase is a Vizio VA320M 32" from Tiger Direct. It has an optical audio output and several HDMI inputs. If I ran HDMI from my 360 and the blu-ray player, would the TV output the audio of both to my sound system? I guess, in a nutshell, I'm trying to figure out if my TV would act as a switch or if I would need to buy one.

Hope this makes sense and thanks in advance for your help.

make and model

The sound system is a Logitech Z-5500...I know it's made for a computer, but it sounds and works great with my 360!

Let me try.

We have a 360, some HDTV but no highend audio. Just run the hdmi to the hdtv and it works. For more hdmi ports we either us a HDMI switch or use what's on the set.

Back to digital audio. HDMI is digital audio. I can only guess what more I would want from that.

thanks

Yep, I understand what HDMI is, I know it carries digital audio...I'm just trying to keep from having to buy an optical audio switch as the only input that my sound system has is 1 (one) optical audio input.
