digital audio cables

I am in the market for some fiber cables for my amp/receiver to go between it and the DVR/cable box. Any one have a brand preference for cables?? I know the "standard" is Toshibas toslink. But is that just the connector standard, or is it also including the cables themselves. I also see that most recommend the multi strand fiber, not the single strand. I can see where that would be a plus, and more reliable. But back to my original question, Is there any way to tell which "no name" brand is better than any other??

Philips brand HDMI cables at Sam's Club for around $23 function just fine.

Make up your mind to reject any & all sales pitch hoping to sell you overpriced "premium" brands. They simply have inflated profit margins for the sellers.

Buy Clearance cables!

Go to RadioShack and ask them if they have any Optical cables on clearance. You should be able to get them for 5 to 15 dollars instead of paying the full price.
