General discussion

digicam as a webcam?

Mar 14, 2005 6:08AM PST

I've just recently purchased a SD300 and heard a rumour that there is software that will allow you to use your digital camera as a web cam. Anyone know if there is any truth to this? If so, what is the software and where it can be found?

thanx.

Usually not.

I'm unsure why you ask this question since there are some dozen plus (hundred?) by now. The answer is this. Your basic camera will overheat and die if used as a webcam.

It's why you get a webcam.

I let the pimply-face nerds at BestBuy fill my head with delusions of grandeur. Thanks for the response.

Not that.

It's a common question and the question is in the forums if one uses the search feature.

"Most" digital cameras can't run for 24 hours without a heat issue. Web cams are different.
