Different models in different countries?

Aug 10, 2009 4:14AM PDT

It seems to me that there are different models of Samsung LCD TVs sold in different countries. At least it appears like that when looking at available models on the different sites.

Examples
http://www.samsung.com/ru/consumer/subtype/subtype.do?group=televisions&type=televisions&subtype=lcd
vs
http://www.samsung.com/no/consumer/subtype/subtype.do?group=tvhomeentertainment&type=tvhomeentertainment&subtype=tv

I have come to the conclusion that our TV needs to be replaced.
After searching around a lot, I've more or less decided to go for the LE46B65x series, but all the information I've found on the net is about the B656 model. However, on the Russian Samsung.com I only find the models B652T4W and B653T5W. As I don't speak Russian, it's hard to navigate on the available local web sites that might give me the answer to my question.

Which model sold in Russia corresponds to the B656?

Different models in different countries?

Here's what I would do if I were you.

I'd go to Samsung Russia and check out both 65X models of interest.

If you go to Downloads / Файлы для загрузки, you will find that Quick Guide and User Manual are in English (as well as in Russian).

Read through the manual, look at the connection diagrams and all, and decide if this is the TV you want, if it has all the features you must have.

I wouldn't compare these models to some other country's model that you cannot buy anyway.

As an added benefit, this way you will learn about the features of your future TV before you make the purchase, thus avoiding any unpleasant surprises when it turns out that Feature X is not available on Russian models but available on every other Samsung TV in the world.

Just my 2 kopecks. Happy

I agree....

Comparing the models by the manual and jackpacks is a great idea. Being based in the U.S., both of those models are foreign to me, and I don't have a comparison chart for our global product line.

However, based on a simple breakdown of the model numbers, I might suggest comparing with the Russian version of the LE46B653 or LE46B652. I don't know the difference in those models (one may be limited distribution, likely with minor differences), but the features may be similar. You can see that here:

Further, I would definitely recommend purchasing in the region the unit is sold in. Crossing countries may void the warranty, as noted in several posts here. When in Russia, I recommend buying the Russian model.

Hope that helps!

Different models in different countri - but same manual...

Thank you for inputs from both of you

_jr_,
I tried to check the User manuals as suggested, but the same manual is refereed to for both models (...B652 and B653). I've haven't scrutinized it fully yet, though. The Quick guides are identical, even th? same as for the B655/-6/-7/-8 models.

So, still hard to make a 100% conclusion on where the differences lies. I'll keep on searching then

Still,
