Differences between wireless adapters

I am planning on purchasing a Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router for my home. My question is there a difference in signal quality and strength picked up by my desktop by a Linksys 802.11G 54 MBPS USB 2.0 ADAPT WIRELESS MODEMS compared to a Linksys Etherfast 10/100 Compact adapter. The price difference is significant $65 vs. $25.
What are the pros and cons?

You'll have to find reviews on said products, but I've all of them to "work" and with minor differences in range and wide variances in software interfaces.

The problem is that such have fallen to commodity status and you can find such for very little money.
