Resolved Question

Difference between VERY similar 40 inch models

Mar 4, 2015 10:05PM PST

Hi guys, I'm new here and thought this would be the best place to ask my very important question regarding a bedroom tv i'm looking for!

I'm looking at the Best Buy website and the two 40 inch samsung TVs look eerily similar and just a minor difference between the two.

Samsung 40" 1080p 60Hz LED TV (UN40EH5000FXZC)
Samsung 40" 1080p 60Hz LED TV (UN40H5003AFXZC)

I can't find any information on these two models anywhere but on the BestBuy/Future Shop websites. Can you guys help in letting me know which one is a better bet? They are both the same price as well!
Other than the fact that the 5003 plays more movie formats off the USB, is there anything else I should be looking for? Which one is a better buy?
Thanks!

That's quite common that a model is shop-specific (made for a certain shop or chain). That way, they can guarantee they have the lowest price for that model (because it's nowhere else available). So better ask their sales dept about the details. You already found 1, they can tell if there are more.

Thanks guys, I did go in to the store, and since one's available in-store and the other is web-only, I couldn't decide between the two. I ended buying the 5003 in store and got it at a reasonable price, but the 5000 seemed to have better overall customer reviews on the best buy website. I've been told to take those with a grain of salt, so I've made the plunge in getting the 5003 and hopefully it goes fine! Happy Thanks!

Something you need to know.

Some models are specials, made just for a retailer so that could be all there is to either. You may have to look each up at samsung.com to confirm. Ignore movie formats as that area is rarely good enough for most folk. That is, too high a percentage won't play so it's not something I'd give credit for.

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/skp/faq/1052003 tells us these are 2013 models. Given the age these are likely leader items and not current models.
