GO FOR THE SONY XBR 960/960N WHICH EVER YOU CAN FIND......

THE XBR970 seems like a quick ditch for Sony. I don't
know why it comes with the 2 year warranty if it's a
piece of crap. No SFP, no CableCard.

You can find cheaper prices

Don't just go off of sony.com for prices. Retail can be much cheaper for the the 960. Right now I know bestbuy has them for 1699. Magnolia HiFi was getting rid of theirs for 1599.

Just look around, cheaper prices can be found. The 960 is a great tv. Just bought one 2 months ago. Watching constantine on it right now.
