Something wrong with the wireless in your home? Better tell what in that case.
It's the difference between client and server, to use other terms.

Are you mean to say in infrastructure mode AP term is used for device acting as AP and clients are termed STA ?

The Access Point is an AP, and the workstations are STA(tions). Workstation is a somewhat old term for 'terminal' or 'PC', especially if they are used for technical applications: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workstation

I have never tried them, but I think them different related to the Distributed System.
