Difference between MiniDV, DVD-RW, memory stick

Please enlighten me on the difference between the various image storage alternates such as MiniDV, DVD-RW, memory stick etc for camcorders.
Please suggest the best one-price range upto 600 $.

In the final analysis, "digital video" is some series of 1's and 0's and the storage medium will be ... no difference.

There will be differences in size, but you can see that s that can't be the burning question.

IMHO, MiniDV and memory sticks are capture

mediums. Memory stick is proprietary, and doesn't seem like a good capture device.

DVD-RW is more often a storage medium after the video is captured, and is also more suitable for temporary storage. If DVD-RW is used in the camera, be sure it can be used in your computer.

I think DVD+/-R or CD+/-R are the only current permanent storage medium. I'm inclined to keep MiniDVs because they are cheap, but they are tape and cannot be considered permanent storage.
