Question

Differance Between Samsung QN55Q7C & QN55Q8C Models: 2017-8

May 1, 2018 11:58AM PDT

Before I spend a nice chunk of change on a New TV, I wish to know what techicncal & logical justification if any, does the 2018 model 55” QLED 4K UHD 7 Series beside the higher price tag of $800.00 has over the 2017 model 55” QN55Q8C. I am an older person that has issues with my vision now and need to see w/o glare and be able to see the darkness with clarity, somthing I don’t have with my older flat screen plasma.
Also, please let me vent and say that I have been throwing money away for the last six years on a Satellite Dish from DirectTV with poor service due to windy or stormy weather in the county plus, the channel line-ups give you fewer chooses in good intelligent programming without the demeaning long commercials or brakes that rune the flow w/o cuts made to the film. It’s time for a major change!

Thanks,
Prof. GD Goldberg

Clarification Request
Are you reporting both sellers and Samsung will not answer?
May 1, 2018 12:03PM PDT

This to me is why you should not buy alone. Makers and sellers that do no answer pre-sale questions did not earn the sale. That aside the only difference I could find was the 2018 has fewer Watts in the speaker system.

This is likely to be a cost cutting move since most folk go with sound bars or receiver systems.

As to your eyesight issues I can't see any difference between these models.

First of all, if you have issues with your vision, you surely should visit a shop and compare the image, not only of these 2 TV's, but maybe other TV's as well.

And while you're there, surely the sales person can tell exactly what the differences between these 2 models are, so you can make a motivated decision if the difference are worth $800 for you. Maybe it are options you'll never use, maybe the newer one has some big advantages for you.

Of course, the choice where to get the programs from is a totally other one than the choice what to view them on. But if you don't plan to subscribe to a service that offers UHD the next 10 years, a normal HD TV (1920 x 1080) might be good enough. But it could be your eyes need QLED and that's only available in UHD. That's why you need a good discussion with a good salesman.

DO NOT BUY EITHER

Message of warning , I bought a 2017 65" QLED 8C and it 's picture died after 2 1/2 months and So far Samsung has done Nothing to fix this issue . I to, am a bit older and bought this as my once in a life time TV . Living on a fixed income . So I don't have this kind on $$ to throw around .... IMO, BUY Something ,Anything Else (I'll buy an LG OLED if I'm able to ) ..Samsung's CS has been the worst . I am looks a long wait to have my CC do something for me as I'm at the last stage of being patient and giving Samsung the chance to make things right(this is why using a CC to make purchased as this really is worth it, I doubled my Warranty to 2 years) ..I have no confidence they will ....

I'm no expert , but , there is not much difference in the 2 models you're asking about .... IRC the 8C has a bit brighter picture . I think that's it for major differences ....
Shop some more ... TV 's a re a dime a dozen these days and if you look here about what others have with many different Samsung products....

Direct TV is AT&T IIRC ....Nothing but Trouble.... bail out of them , if you can asap . AT&T kept auto deducting and billing me even after I shut off my phone service when I moved out of the USA . Called before and after the move ,, But to no avail . Took more $$$ 4 months worth ....Until I put a stop on them from my bank . I had these problem wit AT&T for more then 20 years ..It's what they do and have not changed in all that rime ...RUN as fast as you can .....You'll be happy you did
