Didn't call the geek squad yet !!

by parsonsrw / April 2, 2006 6:27 AM PDT

Hello everyone,
The past couple of days I used this site religiously. Thanks for that. Now a new problem: I am running XP on a desktop and laptop. My desktop (host)is running on a DSL modem and is connected to linksys wireless b router. I also have the external linksys wireless b adapter connected to the host by usb. I am doing fine with the set up. Connected to the internet, etc. My network connection box says Wireless Network Connection: Enabled and Local Area Connection Enabled, Shared and Firewalled. The laptop has the wireless b adapter in its slot and it also connects to the internet. Its network connection box says Wireless Network Connection Enabled, Firewalled. Its local area connection says MEDIA DISCONNECTED. When I ping to from desktop to laptop it says TTL expired in transit. When I ping from laptop to desktop it say request timed out. What is the missing link here? I am at a loss, but hopeful. I, again, don't want to call in the Geek Squad. They do charge $100 to put in a peripheral, so they would get me good on this one.
Anyway, thanks for reading and HELP !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
