Did you NEW Samsung come with stickers on the panel?

by zkimhi / December 29, 2008 3:32 AM PST

Hi All,
I purchased an LN40A650 from Fry?s and when opening the box (which was sealed as new) I discovered it had no stickers on the panel (unlike the ones in the stores). I went back and exchanged it to an LN46A650 (which they promised was brand new) and once again ? there was no sticker on the panel. There was only some sticky wrapping on the screen without the panel stickers. It is a Dec08 manufactured LCD and something tells me that Fry?s is selling refurbished TVs as new. Would love to hear what you got in your box if you got the TV in Nov / Dec 08.
Thanks in advance and happy New Year.
Ziv.

You can verify if the unit was refurbished by calling 800-SAMSUNG if you have any reasons to believe it may have been.

Some televisions, particularly the LN40A650, did get reopened at the factory in order to install the latest firmware.

My guess is that this was the case for your unit as noted in this thread:

Those units were shipped without the bezel sticker, and that was directly from us. It was a limited amount, but it has raised a few questions.

Let me know if I can answer anything else for you.

Thank you, I was not aware of that issues. This makes it all clear now!
I wish there was a note with the material stating that elimantaing questions like my own.

I noticed the firmware shows as T-AMBAUSC-2008.9 is that is newer than what I understood was around.

That is the newest firmware update.
