General discussion

Did you know this?

Did you know you can "ENLARGE" post reply windows, so you can see everything you have typed? Just click and drag the bottom right corner of the reply window.

I didn't know that! Happy

Did you know that's a feature of Firefox 4?
Mar 31, 2011 1:07PM PDT

It is actually a browser feature, not something that's forum-specific. It was recently introduced in Firefox 4 while Chrome and Safari (v3+) have had it for a few years. The functionality was also available via extensions and add-ons for years before that, and it has been added to various websites with just a little Javascript and CSS.

Glad to see it becoming a standard browser feature. Happy

Ahh, browser feature.

That may be why I didn't see it before.

Been using it for years,

figured it was a "normal" thing, along with spell checking in the forums and anywhere else you enter text.

There's one catch, though...
Mar 31, 2011 10:16PM PDT

Most websites aren't designed with such functionality in mind, so when you expand a textarea it may cause dramatic shifts in content/layout, making parts of the site unusable in extreme cases. Not an issue here in the forums, but something to consider.

sure, but

when you hit the submit button, all changes are gone and you are back to the default.

Any road up, it's a nice little trick.
