Am having one heck of a time moving around and reading. It sure is a slow methodical process. Don't know about this!! Sad

No changes have been made to this version as of yet

Hopefully next weeks deployment we will be able to do some changes (but no promises), for now it is just the way we had it on last Thursday release.

Thanks!

I'm seeing one strange anomaly in Firefox
Apr 25, 2005 10:49AM PDT

that changes the message tree when logged in. There is space showing between the message I am currently reading and the one below if I am not logged in. If I am logged in, the current and next message run together a bit??? I'm trying some tweaks with the browser. IE does not seem to do that.Hmmm.

One Other Note : Your Own Posts Not Being 'Read'
Apr 25, 2005 10:19AM PDT

Unlike the past format..if you made a post, it was automatically considered "read". Now, when making a post, either a reply or an initial post, after submission, when you go back to the main forum by clicking on the "Read More Posts" link, the thread or post will show up as "unread". In order to cause the post to be "read", you must open your own post. Yes, you can click on the "Mark all discussions read" but you don't know for sure that someone else hasn't added to the thread so you are required to verify by opening the thread, then opening your own post.

It is time consuming to open a thread that you just reponded to, just to open your own post to make it "read".

Hope this helps.

Lee, You Need To Click The 'Read More Posts" Link

Hey Grif, now that forums are back to the original
Apr 26, 2005 2:44AM PDT

functionality is still the same as the newer forums.

We really didn't change anything on the confirmation page except for the way it is presented.

Give it a try using the old forums style, if you post a message and return back to the forum door, the message you just posted is still marked as unread. If post a message and click "back to discussion" it return you to the post you've just made and marks it read.

I'm testing this in our development environment and the behaviors are identical. Let me if you are getting the same result in the old forum version.

Thanks!

Lee, Yes You Are Correct...
Apr 26, 2005 3:55AM PDT

I see now that they are behaving the same..It must be my general habits that brought out the difference...In the old forum format, I tend to click on the "Return To Discussion" link which causes you to return to your own post and therefore it shows the post as "read". For some reason, on the new format, I chose to click on the "Read More Posts" link which brings you back to the main forum page..It's only then that a post shows as "unread".

I guess I'll need to select the "Return to discussion" option and everything will be fine.

Thanks. I can live with it.
