Did I break them now?

Jan 31, 2008 6:46PM PST

I can't submit posts in XP or Office forums. I tried the Desktop forum and could post there, but not tried others yet.

These are replies to threads, whether I am the first to reply or not.

I can preview my posts, but when I click Submit I first of all get the CNET 404 Page Not Found page, then if I hit Refresh I get taken to the CNET login page here;
http://www.cnet.com/1320-4_1-27.html?path=http%3A%2F%2Fforums.cnet.com%2F5411-6142_102-0.html

Strangely, if I fail in one thread then move to another thread, I get the same result, but if I hit the Back button I then see the post input box from a previous thread.

Did I break it or am I being told something? Sad

Forum clustering had some issues
Feb 5, 2008 3:50AM PST

Hey guys,

The engineers found that the forums machines had some clustering issues and the issue had been resolved by Saturday early morning.

The engineers are planning to upgrade the Jive forum software soon to a newer release, that should address some of the clustering issues that it has been having for quite some time. I don't know the ETA on this delivery is yet, but I will update once I get some word of it.

Thanks and I do apologize for the inconvenience.

Will the new Jive software offer any enhancements or improvements?

issues. Even if the upgrade did include new features out of the box, our engineers will still have to tweak them in order for them to work on our site. I wish it were that simple to add features to the forums, it's just that when you bring in a 3rd party app like Jive into CNET you are looking at whole new ball of wax--which requires a lot of customization on the backend and frontend. If we ran Jive forum software out of the box then we would have all the features it offers, but unfotunately it just doesn't work that way. Sad

So the problem was a cluster fluster. Happy
