Question

Dictation issues: macOS Mojave

I updated my 2015 Mac Pro recently and I have very quickly noticed that the dictation function is playing up. When I select a word and then the 'start speaking' option it doesn't respond at all. I have tried all the suggestions online but nothing works. Also when I go on system preferences - accessibility - speech - and then select a preferred voice it seems to delete each one as I go through them...?

Is anyone else having this issue or is it something I should be concerned about? I actually used the 'start speaking' right click option a lot and would really love to get this sorted!

Answer
Try these

Turn Dictation off, reboot, then turn it back on.
- Instead of using the right-click option, try using the shortcut (Fn pressed twice).
- Redownload the language pack by deleting the languages on this folder: /Library/Speech/Recognizers/SpeechRecognitionCoreLanguages/
- Reset the voice recognition feature.
