General discussion

dialer threat

Dec 5, 2003 10:33AM PST

Grif,
I tried exactly what you said and nothing came up. I even went to the expense of buying Pest Patroll progam and ran it.Several things showed up, but not the dialer threat. I am at a loss and getting very peed off. Ive tried everything that everyone has suggested on your site, exactly the way they said to do it and still nothing.

What now?

thanks for your help

Nancy,

I just saw you posted your log in spywareinfo. Your files in question are NOT showing. Are they still where Norton found them??

C:\windows\downloaded Program files\conflict.1\webcam.exe

C:\windows\downloaded Programs files\webcam.exe

or are they gone??

Did you have a look in Norton's quarantine??

Can you still SEE the 2 files in your "downloaded Program Files" folder??

If yes, highlight one file and RIGHTclick on the file and choose delete. If it works, then the second one.

If you can NOT delete the 2 files this way - reboot your computer and go into SAFEMODE - go again to the "downloaded Program files" folder - highlight one of the 2 files and RIGHTclick and choose "delete" - after that the second one.

Nancy,

no problem ! RIGHTclick on Start > Explore on that page LOOK at the left and scroll UP there you will find a folder called: Downloaded Program files > click on the folder and then look for these 2 files:

C:\windows\downloaded Program files\conflict.1\webcam.exe

C:\windows\downloaded Programs files\webcam.exe

If you SEE them in there > highlight the first one and then RIGHTclick and choose DELETE - then go to the next one and do the same.
