Feb 15, 2004 1:07AM PST

Dial-up works when clicking on outlook express, but not on ie6.0 I get a box that says "No connection to the internet is currently available. I am not sure where to begin in troubleshooting this problem. Ie works once I am connected, but I would like to connect when clicking on the ie icon. Thank you for any help.I am using xphome.

Please answer what you did concerning the two references Bob gave you.

In addition, please do some work with those fingers and tell us what you're done and the result.

Did you connect to your ISP, before opening IE? I get that message if I open IE before I connect to my ISP first.

It works if I connect to the isp first. I would like it to connect when I click on the ie icon. On my other computer this is the way I connect. Some programs that connect automaticly get the "dial-up will not work" msg right now, and that is the reason I am trying to fix it to connect via the ie icon. So far I have tryed all the suggestons above, and all is ok in the registry that I checked from the above advice. I don't suppose there is a way to reinstall IE is there?

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with a dial-up connection, and I almost always connect to the internet by clicking on the ie icon.

In IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections "Always Dial My Default Connection" is checked. In the Control Panel > Network Connections, my dial-up connection is marked as the default connection.
