dial up laptop thru cell phone

Feb 3, 2011 5:10AM PST

I use my laptop to dial up office modem and use remote desktop connection to log in and work. My question is, is there anyway to use my cell phone (htc evo) to dial my office thrue laptop? I would like to get rid of my internet phone modem.

This was true years ago when some cell phones had the feature but dial up modem connections with your usual cell modem is not possible.

Im not 100% sure on the question here but one of these answers may help you

Download PDANET onto your phone, Android version and to your laptop windows version(if you have windows)
Its pretty straight foward to use your phone as a 3g modem.

Another feature will require you to download Foxfi onto your android device. Basically, after pairing your android phone too the laptop bluetooth, you create a false dialup name password etc. As long as foxfi is running and youve selected create a bluetooth connection. Hit dial under your phone device in windows. You then have internet wirelessly through bluetooth. 56k speed ftw.

If your goal is too use your phone to wirelessly access your pc at work. Check the android market.
