Dial-up connection box keeps popping up

by fnerraw / September 26, 2004 10:38 AM PDT

The Dial-up connection box keeps popping up even though I have a DSL connection. I can connect to the net fine but every once in a while there's that box again requestion a dial-up connection. Any ideas on how to kill it?

Check you internet options in the control panel and make sure you have the box checked to never dial a connection.

Maybe but I did have the dial a connection box checked. I don't have a phone line connected to the PC so it can't really cll anyone anyway but it's annoying. If it persists I'll check out your links. Thanks

Not a good idea. I highly suggest you download and use these on a regular basis just like the rest of the world has done that uses a computer. Wipes out malware and parasite's. Your headed for trouble friend. Good Luck!

Id hate for you to be stuck with a few thousand dollar's on your phonebill via your ISP or however it will get charged out. 1-900 #'s are ??? Im guessing + $5.00 a minute minimum and since nothing is there to "hang up the line" .... Granted Im not familur with DSL but I do know you will be responsible for the bills you get! Your choice.

Since your in the XP section, I assume you have XP perhaps you should check the schedualed tasks folder for EASY INTERNET SIGN UP. As I recall it is schedualed to run/ask on a regular basis Espically if the 30 day sign up has expired. If this is seen simply uncheck it to run and dont worry about any confermation box it may ask afterwards. I dont recall what it may ask, but it is safe to disable.

In reply to: Re: ?

Thanks, now everyone can relax. The task scheluler did have EASY INTERNET SIGN UP set to execute every 30 minutes. I deleted the entry. As to the other comments I reun Ad-Aware, Spywareblaster, Spyware Guard and Spybot on a weekly basis so I think I have that angle covered.

Thanks again for all of the suggestions.

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
