Can someone tell me if the AT&T Yahoo 56k, is any good,or not, also can I make my Microsoft IE my default browser? thanks

I can't say. But the neighbor used it without too much issue. And maybe to the next question. You may do that but not everyone can.

Given the price it's better to go for AT&T Yahoo! DSL if available, but their dial-up service is about as good as you can expect for dial-up and, in my experience, quite reliable. Also, while they encourage you to use their customized Yahoo! browser, which is based on Internet Explorer, you can use any browser you choose.

As to the browser, I found out a long time ago that installing their, or any ISP's browser software is a PITA. They always come bundled with a bunch of crap you don't need and their "branded" browser. All you need to do is get an account, username, and password, and an access number. Dial in, get a connection, and open any browser you want. Trust me here. Uh, small caveat here, not counting AOHell.
