Device to connect PC to Music system

At present I listen to music through my PC speakers from the following sources:- MP3 files; You Tube; Amazon Music; Internet radio/BBC iplayer (radio). I also have a large amount of old records I want to dust off and be able to play so am about to buy a turntable/amp/speakers. I am looking for advice on what device(s) I need to enable playing all the above PC music sources through the amp whilst often using the PC speakers (to play games etc.) at the same time.

That sounds like a mixer.

In reply to: Device to connect PC to Music system

Since the question ended with "at the same time" and not selection of an input like we do with a receiver you are shopping for a mixer that has as many inputs as needed to handle "at the same time" as you think you may want.

A google and your research would be next.

Thanks for the reply but you appear to have misunderstood the question. I do not want a mixer. To Clarify. I am looking for a device that will play music from my PC that can connect to an amplifier. The amplifier will also connect to a turntable. I only want to play ONE source of music at any given time. So, I might listen to a record on the turntable OR a track from Amazon Music - not both at once. However, I do want to be able to use the PC simultaneously for other things, such as playing games that outputs sound through the PC speakers. The idea is so that the music streamed or stored on my PC outputs to the speakers attached to my music system - so the music isn't competing with the game sounds on the PC speakers.

Thanks for clarifying.

There's a reason I quoted you so you knew why I thought you wanted a mixer.

I would be guessing your current amp does not have many inputs and no switch selection. At that point you are now looking for an analog audio switch. Here's an amazon search. You would cable it up as needed.

Device for streaming music from PC to music system

In reply to: Thanks for clarifying.

Nope. Way off.

Here is an amp.

This has an Input Selector. One input option is "Phono". To enable audio output of the turntable I plug the cable from the turntable into the amplifier into the socket at the back marked "Phono". Another Input Selector option is "Network". At the back of the amp is a corresponding socket marked "Network". So, into that socket I will plug the cable from the device I am seeking. The device is able to receive, via Wi-Fi, music files from the PC which are then output through the amp to the attached speakers. What is the device called?

Can't read minds here.

I don't see streaming mentioned in your top statement and you did write "at the same time" so I went with what you asked for.

Now with streaming devices there are too many today. Did you look at google's 35 dollar pucks?

CNET and other sites wrote it up.

This is not an offer to re-review and list all its tricks.

Got it now. Thanks

I'm on the right track now. Seems I need a Wireless Music Streamer. The Google one doesn't support Amazon Music but am reading up on similar, albeit more pricey, alternatives now. Thanks for the help.

For Amazon I went with the Echo.

In reply to: Got it now. Thanks

It's very nice. So nice I bought the small version of it for my office.

I do see folk writing "Open Amazon Prime Music in a Chrome browser. You will see a small Chromecast button in the top right hand corner. "

Sounds to me everything will be from the computer,

In reply to: clarification

then you are all set. Just get a turntable with built-in pre-amp, that will be connected to "line-in". (you said only one thing at a time).

Thanks for all the input folks. Not sure about the Echo - a little too smart for me I think.
I think I am gonna get an Integrated Amp +Turntable + speakers for the records...
Still vacillating over the digital music options but at least I know what I am looking for now Happy Probably going to go with the Sonos (link below) -- won't actually need to integrate it with the amp and it has everything I want in terms of playing music from my PC and the internet:-
