Device status lights??

Jan 7, 2005 6:15AM PST

I have a new Dell Inspiron 8600 and noticed at times when the computer is off, a couple of the status lights blinking. I leave it hooked up to the AC adapter all the time, only used it on battery once to make sure it worked on the battery. Is this normal for notebooks is it checking battery level or what. I have posted this on Dell forum but so far no answer, I would think someone would know.

Device status lights still on?
Jan 7, 2005 6:38AM PST

My laptop will, at times, hangup while it's shutting down. I usually don't realize it's still on until I go to use it again hours later.

Have you opened the unit when the status lights were on and found it to actually be on?. Mine was still on.

My unit stays plugged in the charger most of the time when it is off. I get an orange light while it's charging and a green light when it's charged.Thats my normal status. Orange light, green light, no blinking.

My 8600

On mine, when the lid is closed (computer in standby), the power light regularly pulsates. Then after about a half hour, it goes into standby, causing the hard drive light to flash for a sec and then they all go off.

Also every once in a while the charge light will flash. Totally normal.
