Determining the number of clients sharing a ICS connection

Nov 16, 2004 4:33AM PST

I have a Win 2000 Pro PC sharing its broadband internet connection with other computers on my home network.

Please could someone point me in the right direction (eg facility in Win 2000 or 3rd party software) that can assist me in determining the number of client computers actually using the connection at any point in time.

Tab,

I'm not quite sure what you're asking...If this is a small home network, can't you just count your computers? Or is this a wireless network and you're concerned about "improper" connections made by outside users?

Just curious.

Grif,

Spot on! I'm concerned about neighbours using my internet connection (my ICS host is connected to a wireless router).

My connection has behaved strangely (eg dropping unexpectedly, being able to access email but not the web) since I detected a new wireless network in my locality.

I have set up WEP keys and enabled MAC address filtering but I have read even that cannot stop the determined hacker.
