Very little to go on here

You posted in the Windows 8 forum, so I'll assume you have Windows 8. If that's the case, you have a built in antivirus, assuming you ran Windows update and kept it up to date. If you can wiggle the mouse in the upper right corner of your desktop and get the charms, you should be able to install Classic Shell which will give you back your desktop. If not, maybe it's time to reinstall Windows or restore from a backup if you have one.

You download Classic Shell from their site.
May 11, 2014 2:30AM PDT

Download Classic Shell from classicshell.net. It will give you a desktop that looks like prior versions of Windows including the Start menu.

There're two other browsers you can use
May 11, 2014 2:35AM PDT

You can download Firefox from mozilla.org or Chrome from Google. IE is known to be buggy although yours sounds more buggy than most. Also I'd download the free MalwareBytes, get it up to date, and let it scan for malware.

Good luck.

Most learned not to use Internet Exporer.
May 11, 2014 2:36AM PDT

I know it's a hard lesson for most but we only use Internet Explorer in a pinch. I rarely see it except to see what an IE control panel looks like to answer questions. Microsoft had over a decade of exploits so the advice I got long ago was to not use IE. You bet I took that advice.

I see one huge issue.
May 11, 2014 3:08AM PDT
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-desktop/cwindowssystem32configsystemprofiledesktop-is-not/8adbc6ac-64c5-4418-9223-95c92d2dc958 is interesting that this issue has been around for a very very long time.

But I see a common gaffe in your picture and that is to use some outdated advice about the OS on a small drive C. That's going to bite back many many times. I find that folk that do that learn over time how bad that advice was. That is, you usually find them flaming others that point it out. Give them a year of pain and then they usually and silently recant.

I bought this laptop three months ago craigslist its an MSI gt70 for gaming... Annddd my first windows computer since the xp days how would I move the is install to the e drive? And is that what you are recommending?

- Collapse -
May be too hard to correct.
May 11, 2014 3:28AM PDT

While I see it as an issue, someone else may have set it up. For now, try to keep stuff off C until you learn more and are ready to wipe out and set it all up again. Installing Windows (any version) is still too hard in my opinion. That is, while I do this almost weekly I worry about the average Windows user and must defer to advising to use restore media and backups of what we can't lose.

Too much malware out there today so the need to backup has grown, not subsided.

I'm wondering if any tweaking or optimising software was used.

We love those optimizers.

My buddies in service centers would be fewer and less well off if it wasn't for PC Optimizer 2015.

As if Dark Souls 2 weren't punishing enough
May 11, 2014 9:39AM PDT

As if Dark Souls 2 weren't punishing enough on its own, now you're using some alpha level "optimizing" program on it?

I'm going to agree with the idea that the quickest and easiest solution is to just start fresh with a brand new OS install.

- Collapse -
I agree - those optimizers are bad news.
May 11, 2014 4:11AM PDT

Those so called optimizers are snake oil. If you've used them and are having problems, I hope you've learned from the experience. Time to re-install Windows, restore to factory settings, or restore from a backup, whichever is easiest to do. As Bob has warned, reinstalling is the least desirable of these alternatives because it's too easy to get the drivers and/or helper apps wrong.
I think I read above somewhere some comments about small C: drives, but I never did see what size your C: drive is. If it's under about 80 GB, that is also a likely problem source.
`
Good luck.
