The only downside to the laptop is that most can't upgrade a video card, change the CPu, toss in a second hard disk and so on. You also lose some speed in places like the hard disk or video compared to a desktop, but that's a laptop for you...

I'm considering buying a new computer. I'm willing to spend around 1500, although I may venture upwards (not exceeding 2000). I'm kinda torn over this though -- laptop vs pc. I've never owned a laptop, so its intriguing due to space, convenience issues, although I realize that with PC's you get more bang for your buck, which is also wieghing on my mind. Can someone help me with any recommendations? I've stuck with DELL over the past 5 years and haven't had any problems. Anyhow, I'm a grad student, soon to be teacher, however, I enjoy using the computer for many things: occasional gaming (not extreme), photo/mp3 & other media things. Anyhow, any suggestions I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.
