Question

Desktop Turns On, No Display

Jan 13, 2015 8:13AM PST

Hello all,

Today I attempted to turn on my desktop, and the monitor displays a blank black screen. I have tried connecting the desktop to a different monitor and it does the same thing.

The desktop turns on, fans run, and sounds normal. What are some things I can try to fix this issue?

Clarification Request
Looking at the details so far

It looks like the PC needs repairs. There are many "help me fix my PC" posts on the web so here we have an unknown PC, no backstory so what to do but say it needs fixing.

Google "The Dead PC" for prior discussions.

Add more details and story to get more ideas.

I had this issue a few years ago
Jan 13, 2015 8:42AM PST

I had an issue like this a few years ago with my Viewsonic LCD.
It was actually a known issue. I had to turn off the PC, unplug the monitor and reboot. Once windows was fully running I had to plug the monitor back in and windows detected it and installed the proper drivers for it.

Dont ask me why...but thats what I googled a few years ago to find out why my monitor wasnt working. Seemed to happen randomly.

That's a product defect.

I can't guess why folk would stand for such defects as they could cost hundreds at a service counter to correct.

Viewsonic

I agree. Sadly had just got medically released from the Army and couodnt afford a new monitor.

I didnt mean to jack the thread just shooting out an answer I found when I had my issue with a viewsonic lcd.
For some reason windows vista 64 (think thats the os i had) would eat that driver occasionally.

Some folk create new accounts to continue. They didn't share any make or model so diagnosis such as this is rarely guessed.

I understand dude. No point asking for help if your going to be vague.

More detail only helps.
