Desktop themes in XP?

Feb 10, 2004 3:15AM PST

I am new to XP, and I really enjoyed the desktop themes on 98SE. Can anyone tell me if XP has PLUS! or something similar to that? Can I still download themes, and if so , where do they go?

There is an XP Plus! available. Price varies depending on where purchased. There are several other products available if you are vigilant.

XP has taken this to a new level. Visual styles, 3d icons, superior colors and so on....
Follow the intructions here... http://www.lightstar1.com/install.htm
As far as I know Plus! does not contain extra themes or color schemes. But, I don't have it.
You can't install 3rd party themes without installing the patch in the above link. Follow instructions or it won't go.

XP Plus does contain Themes, including The most realistic Salt water
Aquarium, I have seen, Outer space and a Nature one.

Visual Styles?

This is what sets XP apart from previous versions. Does Plus! give you more color schemes or are you still stuck with olive/blue/silver? Just curious.

windows xp comes with a few more lovely pictures. however if you want more desktop themes, just download pictures in the BMP format (although it seems to also cope very well in WMF format too, and put them in C:\mydocuments\my pictures.
don't put them in a subdirectory of my pictures or the wallpaper won't pick it up. alternatively just put them in the main windows directory and then it also gets picked up
