Desktop Taskbar Alt Text.

May 24, 2005 2:00PM PDT

When I place the mouse pointer on an icon on the Desktop Taskbar the Alt Text appears mostly hidden behind the Taskbar.

Sometimes I can temporarily fix this problem by grabbing the edge of the Taskbar, dragging it down until it is off the screen, then dragging it back into view and releasing it. But this rarely works, and when it does it is short lived.

AVG, Spybot S&D, and Adaware SE come up clean.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition (it also happened when I was using Windows ME). I have TweakUI if thats any help.

Thanks for any help I can get to fix this.

Have a great day.

always has done - but its only the window toolbars that have been minimised and not the sys tray or quick start menu - although the sys tray does it on occasions - I've never worried about it because the "quick tip" tool bar doesn't show any more than what you can already see. In any case it would just end up hiding other tool bars. Try a google search.

Can't seem to find anything on it at Google.

Can't seem to find anything on it at Google.

Actually the only problem it causes me is that it usually keeps me from pulling up the day/date.

I understand there is supposed to be an option for displaing day;date;hh;mm;ss in Date and Time settings, but these options don't seem to be available on my machine. And only the hh;mm are displayed.

It's been discussed in the forums with a working fix.

Keep looking, it's out there or here.

you need to download the file "transoff.reg" - when downloaded right click then Merge - should be fixed - well if not maybe after a logoff
