If you set the video to "duplicate" it shows the same on both monitors. The alternative, on my Dell laptop, is "extend" and it shows different things. That's in Windows 7 for a normal display.
Are you saying that it's different in Windows 8, or different for wallpaper slideshows as discussed in http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/make-changes-to-your-desktop-background-slide-show
The problem is that those aren't shown by an application program, but by Windows itself. If Microsoft chose to change that it's unlikely you can change it back, unless it's a setting somewhere.
If nobody here knows, it's best to try a Microsoft forum or ask there Customer Service.

How do I get a desktop slideshow with both monitors having the same thing displayed?
I don't want my monitors displaying two different pictures. I want them to be the same when I have a slideshow going.
I don't want to span my images across both monitors. If I have a sunset image on monitor 1 the same image should be displayed on monitor 2.
And when it goes to the next picture, both monitors switch to the same picture at the same time.
Just like the desktop slideshow windows 7.
Or recommend me a program that will do this. (preferably for free)
Ive tried these so far:
