Desktop Replacement Help

Jan 26, 2005 8:46AM PST

Looking for a multimedia machine to replace desktop. Size/weight not key, as it will just go from room to room in house. But need all the features of desktop. Looking at Toshiba Qosmio G15-AV501, and Dell Inspiron 9200...any others that should be considered? Looked at reviews of both, weight and low battery life seem to be the biggest drawbacks (not to mention price). Any other thoughts on the companies or machines themselves?

Did you read my post about the new Sonoma testing about the same speed as a P4 3.6GHz?

Qosmio, etc too pricey unless you will use multimedia

The Qosmio is way overpriced if you are not going to use the DVD recording feature with a TV, etc. And the new Apple mini for $500 supposedly has an an on device that can do the same thing in a more attractive box for less.

If you want a notebook as opposed to a multimedia device there are a lot of great Pentium M Sonoma notebooks coming out between now and March and you should be able to get one under $2,000 not over it.
