Desktop PC with a wireless router and a cordless phone

by Big Steve / January 27, 2008 9:48 AM PST

I have a Dell desktop PC set up in a back bedroom which is connected to a DSL modem and a wireless router is also nearby which allows me to use a Dell notebook wirelessly throughout the house. There is no phone in the bedroom right now but I'd like to install a 5.8GHz cordless phone in the bedroom and leave it. If I did install a 5.8GHz cordless phone in the bedroom where the computer is located will that 5.8GHz cordless phone cause any interference with the wireless router?

Since most routers operate at 2.4GHz there shouldn't be a problem. It's always advisable to connect your cordless phone a little way away from your computer equipment, though, as some interference can occur otherwise.

Well could I do this; purchase a new 5.8GHz cordless phone system which would come with another handset and a cradle, set up the new cordless phone in another part of the house but place the extra handset with it's cradle on the desk in the back bedroom where my desktop PC is located so I'd have a phone back there when I need it? If I did that the extra cordless handset with it's cradle would be placed within 3 feet of my desktop PC's tower. Would that work or not? If I could I'd like to have a phone back there and leave it.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
