Desktop icon's won't stay where I put them...

by dew drinker / January 30, 2009 6:06 AM PST

is there a fix to this? I like to keep them along the bottom of the screen, and they will migrate back to a GRID left formation, say after closing a program or now it happening at start-up. and yes...
right click desktop...under "view" there is NOT a check mark at either grid style or auto arrange, what can I do to lock them where I put them??? I'd rather not have to download a program to do this.

BUT people gripe that it doesn't always work. So rather than tell you something that doesn't work for everyone I share what so far has worked in spite of your question for an internal fix.

Hope you understand.

Microsoft doesn't really allow you to be the Administrator of your own computer even though I'm sure your profile is in the Administrator profile type as mine is. I found this out recently in Windows7 training. The reason the icons won't stay where you put them on your desktop is because you don't REALLY have full Administrator Rites on your Desktop folder. Find your Desktop Folder in Explorer, right click, in the Securities Tab of Properties give yourself full Administrator Rites. PROBLEM SOLVED. Works with Folder views etc....

The most beautiful phone ever has one wildly annoying issue

The Samsung Galaxy S8's fast speeds and fantastic curved screen make it a top phone for 2017, but the annoying fingerprint reader could sour your experience.
