desktop hijacking

Nov 16, 2004 11:53PM PST

Warning you are in danger"I have somehow acquired this annoying desktop screen that I am unable to delete or find in .bmp, html or any other file catergory. It is from some company called SAFE-SECURE at this address 213.159.117.130. It is very difficult to get to their site but at times you can. At the bottom of the annoying desktop screen they claim to provide removal instructions but do not. I have two spyware and ad blocking software programs as well as two virus protection programs. None have caught or have been able to remove this screen that says " Please can anyone help me get rid of this intrussive screen. Thanks

Chrismd,

http://www.google.com/search?q=desktop+%22warning+you+are+in+danger%22 finds more cases.

Surprisingly, the very first remedy in the very first hit worked in that case: just recustomize your desktop from control panel. But details might be dependent on your OS version, so all I can say: have a good time searching and I hope you you find. And please let us know how it goes.

My problem has been solved it involves going to display in control panel and then to cutomize and then to web and removing an item called security. My thanks to Geeks.com and others who also gave me further instructions on preventing this with Hijackthis.com, spyboot, and Adware.
