Did you check canon.com to see if they issued new drivers?

Only a warning?

Only a warning means that you can press something like "OK" and continue. It's a nuisance, but I wouldn't call it "prevents printing".
And how exactly did you disable DEP? "per online" isn't very clear in that respect.

If it's a new printer (connected to a rather old PC, or it wouldn't run XP) consider returning it under warranty for this error. If you can't print, and the shop nor Canon customer support can solve it, it's not functional for you.

Disabled as per info I found online via google.

It used to print before but now2 it does not because of DEP.

I can print on my HP pronter.

Did you try ...

system restore back to when it still worked?

By the way "info I found online via google" isn't more informative than "per online".

That's the way to do it, indeed.

- What "application" did you select? I mean, a driver isn't really an application, so it could easily have been the wrong one.
- What happens if you choose the other option "Enable DEP only for essential Windows programs and services"? It could be Windows doesn't consider a printer driver as an essential program or service so the printer driver won't be affected.

The problem with that
Aug 16, 2012 10:53PM PDT

The problem with that, is that DEP is a useful virus countermeasure that you've now gone and disabled. If DEP is being triggered, and updating your drivers didn't help, I'd start to suspect there's something else going on. Quite possibly some kind of rootkit, but more banal malware isn't out of the question either.

I ain't stupid, DEP was put back as it did not really disabled itself if It kept giving the warning.

I'll waite till some meaningful & possitive info comes up. Thanx anyway.
