Question

Denon AVR-S500BT Has Video but No Sound

Nov 11, 2015 6:05AM PST

Hello.

I just bought this AV receiver and for some reason the video is not showing on the TV.

When I connect the DVD or the Blue Ray directly to the TV via the HDMI ports, everything is fine.

When you do the initial setup thingy (i.e. speaker set up), the menus do come out of the TV.

I am using a 2015 model 55 inch Samsung TV.

PS Right now, the work around that I have been using is to use the HDMI inputs of the TV for the DVD and Blue Ray audio and video source, then use the audio optical cable to bring the audio from source to tv to receiver. Will this is setup degrade the sound quality in any way?

Hello viyamat, did you happen to ever find a solution to your problem? I had the same problem & used a somewhat similar work around (blue ray video out to tv, blue ray digital coaxial audio out to receiver). But I'm about to add a new cd player to the AVR S500BT so I'll be using the digital coaxial input instead of the RCA Media Player input, which means my blue ray player has to go back to the HDMI audio which was not working correctly. Did you ever find a solution?

....or anyone else out there have a fix?

Thanks!
