Denon 4806 on the Way Out?

Dec 19, 2005 1:21AM PST

I notice on the Denon website that the AVR 4806 no longer is available, except for stock on hand, I guess. Is this correct? If it is, what will replace it?

Have you asked them?

The 2805 isn't listed there anymore either

And I did learn that they've discontinued that one. I hear the 3805 may not be long for it either, as they want to push people towards the 3806.

My 3805 arrived on Saturday by the way. I won't be hooking it up for another couple of weeks so no review yet.

Happy

Ditto as to Denon

I've had several brands over the past 45 years and have come to regard recent vintage Denon as a helluva good value. My only caveat is a bit niggeling as to the slightly weird Japanese idea as to user friendliness, but I pretty much have gotten used to it.

who cares!

I have a 4806 and could care less if it goes away. This receiver beats everything within a 1000 bucks each way.

The only thing i think is bad ...the entire line look exactly the same. Well besides the 5805 being an anchor heh.

I havent seen anything about Denon Replacing the 4806 yet ... im a dealer.

And for those who watn to say ... blah blah is better ... well i also sell sunfire, yamaha, elite ... and for the 3500 pricetag ..discontinued or not ..this baby still rocks.

Personally ...id rather have the Integra branded by Onkyo ... but anything still made in japan far outclasses the garbage coming from china nowadays

Ya I love my DENON but its the speakers that make the difference lets face it the difference between a $500 speaker system and a $3000 set up is mindbending You can buy a cheap amp and d.v.d. player but the speakers are everything

Even this old thing (a year old) gives me 7.1 sound thats beautiful. And why spend all that extra for hi-def vidio switching I just change inputs on the t.v. stewart

You should

Having a system of the magnitude you claim to have, you should know better and hook up everything to your receiver instead of the tv.

JB4674 WHY WOULD IT MAKE A DIFFERENCE?
Mar 24, 2006 9:02AM PST

Iam always open to ideas but what difference would there be between hooking up all your equipment directly Vs going thru the amp ? It just means many more cables and more money for an amp that has d.v.i. or h.d.m.i. vidio switching stewart
