Denon 3805 to Pioneer Pro Elite 111fd

Replacing Older Samsung Plasma with Pioneer due to warranty issues. No HDMI in Denon. Component has worked find but want the best picture + home theater...
Can run HDMI from Cable box to Pioneer but what about Digital sound to Denon? Seems my only option is to continue to run on Component....

non HDMI capable Denon to Pioneer Plasma

In reply to: Denon 3805 to Pioneer Pro Elite 111fd

As I can run optical from both CATV and DVD to Denon, I still have to run another HDMI Cable directly from the DVD to the Pioneer. While many will say just test it...on the floor before mounting...it seems that running component will work best for video and optical for sound. Any comments or suggestions?

HDMI

In reply to: non HDMI capable Denon to Pioneer Plasma

Use HDMI for video going directly to the Pioneer Elite, use either the fiber optic or digital coax for the digital sound. Using HDMI you'll have a crisper picture (one less digital to analog conversion) and use the other cables for digital sound. If you upgrade to a bluray player than things may change in what is recommended depending on the player's outputs.
