it depends on the parameters
by tdye43 / March 28, 2006 4:24 PM PST

It all depends what are the parameters you are looking for and the priorities of them.

sony fj 270 by default has xp home , more hard drive, dvd burner, builtin camera and mic, better display.
sony's products are touted to be more reliable in long run and and have the impeccable sony style.
I found this series laptop to have touchpad buttons too close to the edge ( I am used to placing the base of my palm on the laptop edge rather than not on the laptop) and therfore found the touch pad while browsing uncomfortable. The touchpad buttons are rather firm for quick work.

dell xps by default has xp media center , is cheaper, has good response time for support issues. dell xps is more like a bargain laptop which is good value for the price.

I would go for dell xps because of the particular uncomfortability with sony.
