Resolved Question

Dell XPS 15 (L502x) 9in1 card reader sticking out

Sep 7, 2011 3:05AM PDT

Hey all. I have just received a new XPS 15 (L502x), and it's all good
so far aside from the 9in1 card reader cover on the front lip which
seems to stick out (see pics). I take that it's not supposed to be like
this and am wondering if anyone else has had this issue before and how
they resolved it. Obviously it's not a huge problem but it is annoying
and I'd like to know if I can get a replacement cover somewhere. I'd
rather not send the whole laptop back to Dell for this. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Mine does that.

The model I have has an eject mechanism and I have to push it in till it clicks.

Do you think they need to supply more operating details?

Doesn't work

Sorry I didn't make it clear. I've tried all the pushing and poking business but it just stay in even after hearing the click. I've come to the conclusion that it's just a faulty cover, since an actual SD card stays in fine. I'll try to get Dell to send me a replacement Happy

Thanks anyway.

There is one other option.

My other laptop uses something similar but no click or eject mechanism. The cover is just held in by friction. Since this is plastic I would have no qualms about trimming off the end so it sits there without sticking out.

But I can see where consumers would not do such a thing.
