Question

Dell XPS 15 9560 won't turn on after window update

Aug 10, 2018 8:12PM PDT

I have a brand new Dell XPS 15 9560 just arrived today. It booted successfully for the first time. I let it run some window update, then it needed to restart to continue. After it restarted, the laptop only show black screen. There is power in, fan is on, keyboard is lit, but it won't respond and won't show anything. Anyone have a solution?

It does turn on, but somehow it gets stuck before it shows the Windows screen. A perfect moment to try the "restore to factory conditions"-procedure for this laptop. The exact procedure is in the user documentation. It's something like pressing ctrl+F12 (or another key) early in the boot process and thus booting into the recovery partition.

If that doesn't work, or the same happens the second time, it's a clear warranty issue. Contact Dell Customer Service to have it this laptop fixed or replaced by a new one. Dell has a solution, that's for sure.

Try the factory reset/restore (see Dell or manuals online) and if that fails, back to Dell to see how they want to correct this failure.
