Dell X300

Jul 16, 2004 11:23AM PDT

hey i got a few month old Dell X300 with 512mb of ram, 40 gig hd, and the multimedia dock with dvd/cdrw. Recently it was used till the battery was completely depleated. Now when the power button is pushed nothing happens, even when plugged in or with the battery out and i assume that it should boot even if the battery was out and it was just plugged into the outlet but no nothing. I waited to see if the battery got a little it of power in it to see if it would work but nothing. One thing i noticed is that the power LED slowly glows on and off. Is this a sign that it needs service? I have the next day onsite support from them but i just wanted to know if it was somethin fixable myself now. Thanks

problem solved. Im just letting others that have x300s know what they have to do incase this happens to them. Strangely enough if the computer is in sleep mode and the battery completely depleates during it, it wont turn back on (i have no idea why ask dell) so to get it working again you have to pull out the broadband controller card and the wifi mini pci card and boot the system then turn it off and put them back in. weird just thought ide let people know

I have an X200 (don't like it alot) and I have learned that it has a wierd triat also. If you are having a problem with a slow boot up, you have to take out the battery and hold down the power button for 10-15 seconds. This has solved many problems. Again "I don't know why".

in taking out the battery, unplugging the laptop from the wall outlet, and holding the power button for 20 seconds, you are drawing out all the static in your comp, which may cause the laptop to be laggy. a lot of people recommend this as a quick solution to a lengthy bootup.

Dell X300 Power Switch

I have had exactly the same problem; can only boot up my computer for past 2 months from the switch on the docking station. Confused by peanits220 solution; my laptop has an integrated BB card and no wireless; of course Dell want me to replace the motherboard; I felt that it was the switch till I read this, and now feel sure it is a Dell glitch; happened just too quickly and just as reported by peanuts220.
Started when I ran a battery down when in sleep mode...
Any ideas anyone...??
