Question

dell vostro 1500 motherboard max ram? (model # 0wy040)

Sep 3, 2011 11:43AM PDT

Okay I want to instal windows 7 on my dell vostro 1500 which is currently a 32 bit xp.

I read a 32 bit windows 7 can accept 4 gigs ram which is what I will need on this pc since it runs slow with windows 7.

So what I need to know is if the motherboard in this computer will support more then 2 gigs of ram.

Thanks

If it's not in the hardware documentation that came with it or under your servicetag at www.dell.com go to www.crucial.com and see what its memory finder thinks. It will tell you also what kind of RAM you need.

Don't do that.

While 32 bit Windows 7 can accept 4GB RAM there are some machines which because of memory layout of the devices will give you as low as 2.1GB RAM. This limit is lifted in 64 BIT Windows 7 and 4.0 GB RAM gets you 4.0GB RAM.

Some folk learn this the hard way. You don't have to.
